Sustainability
& social responsibility

Sustainability and social responsibility is rightly one of the important topics of our time, which is why we have decided to devote more resources and attention to the long-term support of projects that we consider important and beneficial. The selection of projects is, of course, largely subjective, but we try to ensure that the supported projects reflect not only our corporate philosophy, but also that we support projects in the long term and be able to monitor their development.

Culture

In the field of culture, Herrmann & Vogel has been supporting the Bohemian Heritage Fund for many years, which also reflects the company's history. Erwin Herrmann's wife, Kitty Herrmann, was an acclaimed opera singer during the First Republic Era, and their daughter, Eva Herrmann, worked as the director of the National Theater Opera in Prague after the Valvet revolution. The support of cultural projects, especially in the field of classical music, is therefore linked to Herrmann & Vogel.

Help in crisis areas

The Czech Republic is one of the richest countries in the world, and thanks to its geographical location and great luck, we have not been affected by any major natural disaster or war (since the end of WW II). Unfortunately, many other countries cannot say this, which is why we support Médecins Sans Frontières, who operates in more than 70 countries around the world and provides healthcare with an emphasis on neutrality, independence and impartiality. In addition to saving lives, it also brings testimonies from the places where it operates, which we consider to be no less valuable.

Humanitarian and development aid & education

Thanks to the efforts to develop a new market, we had the opportunity to get to know the Republic of South Africa better, which also led us to support the Pebbles Project. This initiative supports poor children in farming areas in accessing education, setting up kindergartens and afternoon clubs for schoolchildren, who have the opportunity not only to develop their talents in a variety of areas, but also to get help with homework writing and school language understanding. South Africa is a wonderful country offering many opportunities that will be open to these children thanks to their education.

For a similar reason that led us to support Médecins Sans Frontières, we decided to support the Czech organization People in Need. People in Need has been helping since the early 1990s in the Czech Republic and abroad, they stick to their values and we value their work very much.

It can happen to anyone…

This category includes a large number of interesting and important projects that focus on helping the disabled, seniors or people who, by coincidence of many circumstances, got into difficult situations. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to support everyone - we have chosen the charity Health Clown, which has been helping pediatric and geriatric patients through treatment with a smile since 2001.

Sustainability

As a company trading in wood intended mainly for the construction industry, ie a renewable building material that also binds CO2, we are closely connected with the topic of sustainability and respect for nature. In the future, we would like to support initiatives addressing issues related to climate change, sustainable agriculture and construction, and a responsible approach to nature.
